Sexual Repression

Season 4 Episode 70

Wilhelm Reich, the pupil of Sigmund Freud and the founding father of sexual liberation, argued that sexual repression produces fascism. So why were the top ranks of the Nazi party crawling with homosexuals? In this episode, I refer to E. Michael Jones' book Libido Dominandi and René Girard's mimetic theory to show that Reich had it exactly backwards—it's not sexual repression that produces fascism and perversion, but sexual liberation. We cover Ernst Röhm's creative legal defense, Magnus Hirschfeld's blackmail files, why the Nazis burned evidence of their own degeneracy, and how the same link between homosexuality and fascism is alive and well in the dissident right today.
